We’re not looking for just an employee, we’re looking for a team player who wants to grow with us as we expand, and our client base grows.
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN US, YOU ASK??
We are a well-established dog care company that invests in our employees just as we do our clients – both dog and human. We pay a competitive wage, we offer perks such as drinks and snacks during the day, discounts on merchandise, employee apparel, opportunities to bring your dog to work & team appreciation days.
WHO IS THE BARKER HOUSE?
We are a company of dedicated dog lovers who provide dog daycare services, boarding, grooming, and training. We provide exceptionally clean suites, individual grooming appointments and play yards with turf for our furry friends to run around in. We have a large clientele base, and we remain small enough to provide small groups and individual attention for the pups. To ensure quality service and safety, we provide our employees with training, making this a great position for anyone searching for a long-term career working with dogs!
We are a fun group who believe in working hard and playing hard. While we are serious about the dogs in our care, our goal is to create a warm, family-like work environment, rather than a cold, corporate one. Our management is organized, well-run, fair, and clear with expectations. When you come to work with us, you are really joining a positive, dog-loving family.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interact with dogs in playgroups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress levels
- Complete boarding & daycare client check-in and check-out
- Participate in ongoing staff training
- Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and spread attention and play among all dogs in playgroups
- In all dog playgroups, report any unusual behavior, or eliminations and injuries to management immediately
- Perform facility maintenance, including wash crates, carriers, and suites, do laundry, take out garbage, wash dishes, etc.
Minimum Experience, Skills & Expectations
- Prior dog daycare experience is required, and genuine love and compassion for dogs is a must. We are seeking people who are mature enough to understand and accept the responsibility of caring for other people's furry "children".
- Confidence in working with dogs using positive reinforcement and no aversive tools or techniques
- Ability to remain mentally alert and on your feet for up to 8 hours a day, in all types of weather. While monitoring free play time, you will be required to remember all the dogs' names and personalities.
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to 75lbs frequently
- Not afraid to get your hands dirty. Cleaning is a major responsibility when caring for dogs. If you get ill at the idea of cleaning up after dogs, then this is not the job for you.
- Organizational Skills are required. You will need to be able to understand and remember what dog gets what food or medication and what dog belongs to which client.
- Not afraid of any breed of dog or allergic to dogs.
- Dependability is essential. If an employee does not show up, there is not enough staff to provide a safe environment and properly care for the dogs.
- Flexibility is required. Days and hours will change due to the number of dogs in house on certain days. You must be able to work some weekends and holidays.
- Customer service is a number one priority, which means always greeting clients with a smile and a spirit willing to help. Clients need to know that each of our staff members cares about them and their dogs consistently.
